Exploring all your college options can be downright intimidating.
There are thousands of choices before you, all of them seem to have some amazing stuff. You research one school with a D1 sports program. One school has a prestigious ornithology department. One school even installed a slip-n-slide from one side of campus to the other.
How do you make the decision?
We are here to make it easier for you. If you fall into any of these categories, then Davis is not the place for you.
You are motivated by selfish ambition.
We are not in the business of training narcissists. We are in the business of training world-changers. Davis invites its students to be a part of something big — much bigger than themselves. We are looking for people that are driven by purpose & passion— not an unrealistic goal to be a the next Kanye West.
You just want to sit in your dorm room and binge watch netflix all weekend.
We all get it. Netflix is amazing. We are not saying you won’t be able to keep up with your favorite show.
(Unless it’s game of thrones, we have rules against that.) We just do not want our students to take their entire weekend off. We expect them to be active in the community. We know that rest is important, and having to volunteer on the weekend can be tough. Thus, we give all our students Wednesday off as well— this is chance to recharge.
You plan on just blending in and going unnoticed.
It is very hard to just blend in at Davis. We maintain very narrow faculty to student ratios in order to prevent just that. Education is not meant to just be one-size fits all. Your teachers will get to know you and encourage you to do practical work around your passions. Your professors, your classmates, and the staff will all know you by name, not just your number.
