Davis College men’s soccer team fought hard on Wednesday, but ultimately could not pull off the upset as visiting SUNY ESF took the match by a score of 3-0.

SUNY ESF, the reigning Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) champions, played a tight match with Davis as neither team was able to capitalize on opportunities for the majority of the first half.  However, a hand ball by Davis inside the box, led to the lone goal of the half on a penalty kick from Cooper Weinman.  Early in the second half, SUNY ESF took a 2-0 lead as Jean Carlos Barrientos assisted Andrew Noble at the 53 minute mark.  10 minutes later William Bryne scored another goal for ESF and the Falcons were unable to respond.

The Falcons fall to 2-2 on the season and 1-1 in HVIAC play as SUNY ESF improves to 2-1 on the year and 2-0 in the HVIAC.  The Falcons return to action on Saturday, 9/16, in another home conference match-up with The College of New Rochelle at 1:00 p.m.
