Falcons Take 2 Out of 3 on Long Road Trip

The Davis College Lady Falcons took to the road, traveling to Virginia and then North Carolina over the weekend and came away with 2 wins in 3 contests.

On Thursday, Davis traveled to Christendom College in Virginia and jumped all over the host team from the start.  Their defense set the tone and they took a 27-12 lead into halftime.  Brooke Lewandowski lead the charge for the Falcons as she posted a monster double-double scoring 20 points and grabbing 19 rebounds.  Braedyn Mims also had a big game with 17 points and 8 rebounds and Candace Winkel came off the bench to put in 3 threes and 13 points in total.  The Falcons would close out the game with a 67-33 win.

On Friday the Falcons traveled to Mid-Atlantic Christian University in North Carolina to take on the USCAA #3 ranked team, Warren Wilson College.  In this contest the Falcons were down 2 key ball handlers to injuries and could not keep up with the pressure of Warren Wilson and ultimately lost the contest 44-67.  Turnovers proved to be the deciding factor as Davis gave up the ball as staggering 41 times.  Lewandowski led the scoring once again 25 points and 14 rebounds.

Saturday the team was able to regain composure and complete the road trip with a nice win over Central Penn College by the score of 58-44.  The Falcons led from start to finish and were up 21 at the end of 3 quarters before holding on to the win in the 4th.  A balanced effort for the Falcons kept the game in their favor as Mims had 20 points and 11 rebounds, Winkel scored 12 points, and Lewandowski another double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds.  The Falcons owned the glass as they pulled in 60 rebounds with Kim Fassett grabbing 10 boards and Lynnia Torres 9 to go with 4 steals and 3 assists.

The Lady Falcons improve to 11-6 on the season and are currently ranked number 14 in the country in the latest USCAA poll.  They return to action on Tuesday at home versus Green Mountain College of Vermont at 5:30 p.m.
