The Davis College Falcons won their fourth consecutive contest on Saturday, beating visiting Bryant and Stratton College of Liverpool Bobcats by a score of 93-84.
The first half was tight until the Falcons made a run in the last 3 minutes of the half thanks to the play of Ernestas Puzaras (Kaunas, Lithuania) and Kelvin Tompkins (South Miami, FL). Puzaras had 16 of his career high 22 points in the first half and Tompkins added 13 points including 3 three pointers. Davis went into halftime leading 52-39. In the second half, the Bobcats would not go down without a fight as Xavier Norgbey scored time and time again driving to the rim as he scored 21 of his game high 36 points in the second half. The Bobcats took a 74-71 advantage with 9:32 seconds to play but after a timeout the Falcons responded with a run of their own thanks to Jackson Henri’s (Miami, FL) consecutive drives to the rim to retake the lead at 75-74. The Falcons would not relinquish the lead down the stretch as Henri, Tompkins, and Corban Usry (Statesville, NC) took over the game in the final minutes.
Davis College shot 50% for the game and made 9 three pointers on the afternoon. Tompkins led the Falcons in scoring with 24 including 4 three pointers. Henri recorded his third double-double of the season as he had 19 points and 11 rebounds. He also added 4 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocked shots in the win. Puzaras grabbed 6 rebounds and shot 8 for 13 from the field to go with his 22 points.
The offense for Davis College (6-4) has been rolling during the 4 game win streak as they have averaged 85 points per game during the stretch. They will look to continue that flow as they travel to Cayuga Community College on Tuesday evening as they take on the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday they will close out the semester with a home contest against Word of Life at 3:00 p.m.
