The Davis College Falcons started off the new year hosting a non-conference game against Luzerne County Community College, coming away with a 114-99 victory on Tuesday evening.

The 114 points were a season high for the Falcons as they could not be stopped on the offensive end. The Falcons connected on 16 three pointers, 10 in the first half alone, while shooting 47% from behind the arc. For the game, the Falcons shot 51% from the field and were led by Kelvin Tompkins’ (South Miami, FL) season high 30 points.

Davis held a slight lead the entire game but the visitors would not give up without a fight as they were kept in the game by an outstanding individual performance from Sophomore Matthew Dessoye. Dessoye caught fire in the second half scoring 35 of his game high 50 points in the effort while shooting 9 of 14 from three point range. In the end it was not enough as the Falcons would not be stopped and eventually closed out the game.

Jackson Henri (Miami, FL) had a monster game for Davis scoring 26 points on five threes while grabbing 12 rebounds. To go with Tompkins’ 30 points, he netted 5 threes, grabbed 5 boards, and had a team high 7 assists. Senior point guard Ernestas Puzaras (Kaunas, Lithuania) continued his strong play with 13 points, 5 boards, and 3 assists and freshmen Danila Belov (Moscow, Russia) had a big game off the bench with 13 points, including three 3’s, to go with 7 rebounds.

The Falcons are now at 9-4 on the season and have rattled off 7 straight wins, the longest win streak in Coach Dan Rathmell’s 10 year tenure. They will look to continue that streak on the road as they take on Tompkins County Community College on Thursday night in a 5:00 p.m. tip-off.
