The Davis College Falcons picked up their 7th straight home victory beating the visiting Jefferson Community College Cannoneers by a score of 95-79 on Thursday.
Davis has been dominant at home all season but in this latest 3 game January stretch they have been on fire averaging 99 points. Overall, the Falcons are 8-1 this season at the Robb Activity Center with their lone loss coming all the way back on November 13 against USCCA #3 ranked Penn State Wilkes.
In this game, the Falcons were hitting everything as they made 9 first half three pointers with 3 coming from both Kelvin Tompkins (South Miami, FL) and Jackson Henri (Miami, FL). The Falcons were highly efficient in the opening 20 minutes as they had 14 assists and only 6 turnovers, leading 54-36 at intermission. The Cannoneers fought back in the second half, closing the gap to 63-68 with 11 minutes remaining but the Falcons would respond, going on a run over the next 6 minutes that would put the game out of reach for the visitors.
Henri led all scorers with 21 points to go with 7 rebounds, 5 steals, and 2 blocks. Tompkins finished with 19 points including 4 three pointers. Reserves AJ Holmes (Macon, Georgia) and Duke Guo (Tang Shin Hebai, China) had big games off the bench with 14 and 11 points, respectively. Junior captain Derrell Calloway (Lynchburg, VA) also provided a big spark with a team high 5 assists in 15 minutes of action.
The Falcons move to 12-5 on the season and head into a HVIAC match-up at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
