I Corinthians 9:24 “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.”
The Athletic Department’s mission is to foster the Christian character of our student athletes by providing opportunities to manifest Christ by serving and leading on campus, in the community and on the playing field. This mission supports the academic mission of Davis College and contributes to the quality of student life on campus.
Serve – All our student athletes are provided with opportunities as a team to volunteer and serve others in our local community. By committing to participating on a team, our student athletes are taught the importance of serving one another to achieve a common goal.
Lead – Effective leaders demonstrate characteristics such as humility, perseverance, commitment, and the abilities to sacrifice, listen, and communicate to others. The Athletic Department Staff is devoted to developing these characteristics and abilities within our student athletes.
Intramurals are a fun way to be active in sports without having to give the full commitment it takes to play intercollegiate athletics. Various sports are offered throughout the school year to students and everyone is encouraged to participate no matter their skill level is.
Davis College athletic teams are dedicated to serving in the local community. Every player on every team is given opportunities to serve in a variety of ways. Volunteering in the Special Olympics, hanging out with at-risk youth in an after school program, serving a meal to those in need, or lending a hand in a building project are all examples of what teams have participated in.
