10 Things You Should Know about the Lady Falcons in the Upcoming HVIAC Championship

The Davis College Lady Falcons enter the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) Championship this weekend with high expectations.  Here are 10 things you should know…

  1. Davis College is the #1 seed in the tournament and play the #4 seed Pratt Institute at 1:00 p.m. at The College of New Rochelle on Saturday.
  2. This is the first time Davis has earned the #1 seed in their 3 years as members of the HVIAC.  The Falcons made the playoffs in the previous 2 seasons but lost in the semi-finals both times.
  3. In their only regular season match-up back on Feb. 2, Davis took care of Pratt by a score of 69-34.  Jamie Brown led all scorers with 24 points and Brooke Lewandowski controlled the glass hauling in 14 rebounds.  Pratt was without their second and third leading scorers in the game but both are expected to play on Saturday.
  4. The winner of the HVIAC Championship earns an automatic bid into the upcoming United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championship held between 2/28 – 3/3.
  5. #2 New Rochelle vs #3 Berkeley College square off in the other semi-final game at 3:00 p.m.  Davis beat New Rochelle on 1/10 by a score of 65-53 and also beat Berkeley 72-61 just a few days back on 2/11.
  6. If New Rochelle and Davis both win their semi-finals games then Davis College will obtain the USCAA National Championship automatic bid regardless of the outcome of the finals because New Rochelle is not a full USCAA member.
  7. As a team in conference play, the Falcons rank first in 9 statistical categories!  Those categories include field goal %, 3 pointers made per game, 3 point %, defensive rebounds per game, total rebounds per game, rebound margin per game, assists per game, points per game allowed, and opponents field goal %.  They rank second in 8 additional categories.
