The Lady Falcons ended their season with a loss to VFCC on the road. Valley Forge dominated most of the game, taking a 35-18 lead into halftime. Valley Forge used constant half-court pressure to induce 23 Falcons turnovers into points, Davis College coach John Groover said.

Amanda Reich's points included four of Valley Forge's six three-pointers. Teammate Kaitlyn Antolic scored 13 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for Valley Forge. Amanda Comtton added 10 pointes.

Rebekah Havens scored a game-high 20 points and had two assists for the Falcons (2-15). Jess Hammersley totaled 16, and Kayla Hadley had 11 rebounds.

Nakisha Graham scored a game-high 21 points, and the Corning Community College women's basketball team jumped out to a 15-point halftime lead en route to a 78-46 victory at Davis College.

Rebekah Havens had a team-high 20 points for Davis College (2-15), and Alicia Fowler chipped in 12.

Graham hit a game-high four 3-pointers, and Cady Ficarro scored 18 points to help pace Corning, which improved to 5-19.

ALBANY -- Davis College's women got a 22-point, 14-rebound effort from Rebekah Havens on Saturday in an 87-42 basketball loss to Albany College of Pharmacy.

Falcons charts revealed 23 turnovers in a first half that concluded with them trailing, 40-13.

"It got a little better in the second half, but (Albany) was just knocking down shots like crazy, first half and second half," Davis College coach John Groover said.

Jess Hammersley added 12 points for Davis College (2-14).

Lancaster Bible College kept rotating its players in and out and it caught up with the Davis College women, who lost 68-43 in the opener of a the double-header.

"Tiredness was the leading factor as they kept subbing in players, and they just seemed to keep on scoring and we couldn't catch any breaks." Falcons coach John Groover said.

Rebekah Haven, Davis College's leading scoring, had a team-high 17 points.

JOHNSON CITY -- Valley Forge Military College's Danny Brustmeyer drove for the go-ahead basket and scored with 2.2 seconds left for a 52-51 non-league women's basketball victory at Davis College on Saturday.

Davis College (2-13) held a 21-12 lead in the first half and did not trail until the final two minutes of the game.

The Falcons' Jess Hammersly was fouled and hit both free throws to put Davis College ahead 51-50 with nine seconds left. Hammersly finished with a team-high 20 points and Bekah Havens scored 19 for the Falcons.

Valley Forge (2-7) was led by Veronica Ygarza, who had 25 points.

Johnson City, NY - Rebekah Havens scored a game-high 24 points, three off her season-high, and the Davis women's basketball team came back from an early eight-point deficit to win 59-46 over Word of Life in a non-league game on Thursday.

Host Davis (2-7) trailed 16-8 after the first 10 minutes, then tied the score five minutes before halftime.

"It was definitely sloppy halfway through the first half," coach John Groover said. "We made some adjustments and we got tied and we just kept on going."

Havens, who hit two 3-pointers in the game, keyed the Falcons' comeback with 11 points in the first half. Davis Went up by as many as six points in the first, but Word of Life came back to cut the lead to 27-25 at the break.

The Falcons pulled away in the second half: Kayla Cline (12 points) and Samantha Nelson (10) also finished in double-digits behind Havens.

Corinne Fleming, WOLBI's top player, scored a team-high 19.

Houghton, NY - Visiting Davis (1-8) squandered a five-point halftime lead in losing, 69-51 to Houghton's junior varsity, despite a team-high 21 points from Jess Hammersley.

Houghton went on a 15-2 run for the first 10 minutes of the second half to take 43-35 lead. Davis College was too inconsistent from the floor to catch up. "We were cold right off the bat in the second half and they just took advantage," Falcons coach John Groover said. "Just didn't knock down our shots. We had lots of opportunities, wouldn't fall in."

Hammersley fouled out with about 40 seconds left.

CORNING -- Davis College's inability to cope with Corning Community College's second-half defensive pressure was the difference in a 74-46 women's basketball loss to the Red Barons on Tuesday night.

The teams were tied 24-24 at halftime, but Corning CC raced to a 20-point lead in the first eight or so minutes of the second half.

"They came out and pressured us and we were very careless with the ball," Davis coach John Groover said. "We had a ton of turnovers and they had a bunch of easy baskets."

Freshmen Samantha Nelson and Rebekah Havens scored 19 and 18 points, respectively, for Davis College.

Davis College squandered a 12-point lead in the first half only to have host Valley Forge Military College rally for a 58-56 women's basketball victory Tuesday night. The Falcons (1-3), which had trouble throughout the game shooting free throws, had a chance to tie the game from the foul line with 15 seconds left, but both shots were missed.

After a turnover Davis College missed on three shots to tie the game. The Falcons finished 14-for-27 (52 percent) on free throws. "We had our chances at the end but it just wouldn't go in." Falcons coach John Groover said. "Missing free throws down the stretch really hurt our chances."

JOHNSON CITY-- Samantha Nelson had a double-double Saturday to lead Davis College to a 78-48 non-league women's basketball victory over Patrick Henry College. Patrick Henry scored the first eight points, before Falcons coach John Groover called a timeout.

A defensive realignment proved effective as Davis College (1-2) went on to take a 47-21 halftime lead.

Nelson, a freshman, had 24 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Kayla Cline scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

11/06/09 Word of Life Bible Institute 59, Davis College 55

JOHNSON CITY-- Corinne Fleming scored 27 points Friday night to lead the Word of Life Bible Institute to a 59-55 women's basketball victory over Davis College. Davis College struggled in the second half of its non-league season opener. From a 34-all halftime tie the Falcons went scoreless for the first 12 minutes of the second half. Davis College never drew even thereafter.

Rebekah Haven led the Falcons with 22 points, including four 3-pointers, and six rebounds. Jess Hammersley had three 3-pointers among her 16 points.

Beth Sewall added 15 points for WOLBI.
