On Saturday, January
16, 2010, Davis College Senior Tyler Rathmell scored the 1,000th
point of his collegiate basketball career with a three-point shot from
the wing. Rathmell, a Windsor native, is in the Organizational
Leadership program. A leader on and off the basketball court, he has
been a consistent force on the Falcons team during his time at Davis
College.
Head Coach Dan
Rathmell said, “It’s nice to see the results of all of Tyler's hard work
pay off. He has had to overcome a lot of physical adversity after having
knee surgery in '06 and then tearing 80% of the ligament on his right
middle finger during an accident this fall while volunteering during the
local community "Day of Caring". During those times he never gave up and
pushed himself to reach his full potential. This year, he has really
developed into a great all around scorer. He has learned how to create
his own shot and is currently averaging over 22 points per game. Even on
a bad shooting night he has been able to get over 20 points because he
has figured out how to get to the line or to get offensive boards to
obtain easy baskets.”
Coach Rathmell, also
a Windsor native and graduate of Susquehanna University, added, “As his
coach and brother I am extremely proud of his accomplishments both on
and off the court. He knows how to win and has made my first season as a
head coach quite a memorable one.” |
