Matt Bennett
Matthew Bennett grew up in
Whitney Point, NY and is a member of the First Baptist
Church of Whitney Point. He graduated in 2002 from Whitney
Point High School where he was All-Conference in both
football and baseball. He went on to attend Davis College
where he played three years of volleyball and was a four
year starter for the soccer team before graduating in 2007
with a Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Education and a
concentration in Counseling.
During his time
on the soccer team, Matt played a vital role as a leader in
the Falcons soccer program. As a Co-Captain his senior
year, he helped guide the Falcons to their first Regional
Championship appearance in 2006. Through his athletic
career, Matt has come to learn what it takes to win, but
more importantly, the responsibility of a Christian athlete
to represent Christ using the gifts and abilities with which
God has enabled him.
Since January of
2009, Matt has been the Men’s Resident Director at Davis
College. He was also an Assistant Coach for the 2009 Men’s
Soccer team, and will be the Head Coach for the 2010
season. Matt brings to the position a vast amount of
athletic experience and a strong desire to cultivate the
growth of his players both on and off the
field. Participation in athletics develops teamwork,
dedication, perseverance, and humility, all skills vital in
both life and ministry.
In 2005, he married
Stephanie Lockcuff from Jersey Shore, PA and in 2009, God
blessed them with their daughter, Callie. They are expecting
their second child in February of 2011.
