COLLEGE PROFESSOR SELECTED AS NATIONAL PROGRAM REVIEWER

College proudly announces
that Assistant Professor and TESL Concentration Chair Bonnie
D. Novak has been selected to become a program reviewer for
Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, Inc.
As one of only five reviewers
selected nationwide, Novak will serve a 3-year term on the
first review panel for the standards of P-12 English as a
Second Language Teacher Education Programs. These standards
were approved by the National Council for Accreditation of
Teacher Education and the TESOL Board of Directors in
October 2001.
Through the new standards the
panel will address the need for consistency throughout the
United States in how
teachers are prepared to teach ESL to children in P-12
schools. In addition, Novak will have an exciting
opportunity to influence the preparation of future teachers
within the teaching profession. This volunteer commitment is
considered as an honor and a service to the profession.
A resident of
Cicero, N.Y.,
Novak has been at
Davis since July 2004. She is also an
online adjunct professor of English for
Liberty
University and an online course
designer and professor for
Davis
College.
Novak earned her bachelor’s
degree from Mississippi
University
for Women and a master’s degree from
Mississippi State
University. She is
presently working on her Doctor of Education through
Liberty University.
