JOHNSON CITY, NY
(December 18, 2009) – The campus of Davis College was filled
with over 2,000 community guests celebrating Christmas on
Saturday, December 12, 2009. The purpose of the third annual
Andrew’s Good News Christmas Party,
presented by
Andrew’s Good News Ministries,
was to honor the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. The
event offered Christian entertainment, food, games,
activities, and family photos while sharing the Good News of
the Gospel.
Sixteen churches and ministries
partnered with AGNM and Davis College for the event drawing
guests of all ages from cities around Greater Binghamton.
The campus was transformed with beautiful Christmas
decorations including story boards outside Robb Activity
Center telling about the life of Christ. Twelve churches
acted as bus stops offering free transportation. Robb
Gymnasium had serving lines for food and tables for guests
to enjoy music from local choirs and worship teams. The Café
offered music performed by a number of local Christian
artists. Chatlos-Davis Hall was filled with families
enjoying activities, face-painting, games, and Christmas
photos.
“Davis College has been privileged to partner for two years
with Andrew’s Good News Ministries and to encourage people
through this special event,” said Dr. Dino J. Pedrone,
President of Davis College. “Most importantly, we were able
to share the hope of the gospel message with guests, working
with local churches to serve the physical and spiritual
needs of many people. It was a great picture of ministry in
action.” Pedrone noted that many Davis College students,
faculty and staff volunteered and were personally impacted
by the experience.
“Volunteers from partnering churches and our campus were
able to share their faith with guests by serving in a
variety of ways; others, like some of our pastoral students
and Dr. Pedrone, shared the gospel message. Many prayed with
visitors who simply needed encouragement. One person told us
that this would be their only Christmas due to extremely
challenging life circumstances. That is a humbling statement
when you realize the impact a smile and a warm meal can have
on someone’s life, especially when it can open the door to
discussion about eternity," said Sharon O’Connor, Director
of Marketing and
Development for Davis College.
Thanks to all who volunteered and
supported the Andrew’s Good News Christmas Party.
