The Davis College men’s basketball team is hosting the 11th Annual Bible College NIT Tournament on Thursday, 2/20, through Saturday, 2/22, at the Robb Activity Center. The invitational tournament features eight bible colleges from around the country.  Defending NIT champions Davis College Falcons take the floor on Thursday at 7 p.m. as the number one seed against eighth seeded New England Bible College from Southington, CT.  This is the fourth consecutive season Davis College has been invited to the tournament and the Falcons hold both the 2013 & 2011 national titles.

Players will also participate in a three point and dunk contest following the Falcons 7 p.m. matchup on Thursday night.  During the championship game on Saturday at 5 p.m., children from The George F. Johnson Dream Center will be playing a short basketball game during half time.

Hoops for the HomelessThroughout the tournament Davis College will continue our Hoops for the Homeless initiative to benefit the Binghamton Rescue Mission.  Fans bringing items to donate to the homeless in our area receive free admission to the games.  At halftime, fans who contribute one dollar or more have the opportunity to take a half time half-court shot for a chance to win a prize, with all proceeds going directly to the Rescue Mission. Davis College has already received many donations of supplies, and cash donations of more than $200, just in the past three weeks since the Hoops for the Homeless initiative began. As Hoops for the Homeless concludes at the tournament, we hope increase these numbers and be a great blessing to the homeless in our community and the Rescue Mission. The opening round games start at 1 p.m. on Thursday as the fourth seed Mid-Atlantic Christian University (Elizabeth City, NC) take on the fifth seed Word of Life (Schroon Lake, NY).  At 3 p.m., the 2012 champion and this year’s third seed, Trinity Baptist College (Jacksonville, FL) square off with sixth seeded Dayspring Bible College (Chicago, IL).  The second seed, Trinity College of Florida (Dunedin, FL), plays the seventh seed Appalachian Bible College (Mount Hope, WV) at 5 p.m. For a complete schedule of the tournament visit www.davisny.edu/falconsbasketball.

All games are open to the public. One day admission passes to the games cost $4 for adults, $2 for students, or $10 for families.  Children 5 and under get in free.
