The scripture teaches, “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” (Psalm 116:15). Yesterday I received a call from Phil Little (Scotty’s brother), that Scotty passed away Sunday morning. Scotty was a graduate of our college from the 1950’s and has been a strong supporter of Davis by his presence, promotion of the college, financial giving and was a remarkable man of God.
Upon leaving Practical he went to John Brown University and then medical school. An outstanding physician, he used his medical expertise in traveling often to the mission field and received a very prestigious award for medical missions, before 3,000 colleagues in San Francisco last year, based on his international ministry. Scotty loved Davis College. He was always anxious to come to the college for the Board meetings and had a number of ideas on how Davis could be a better school. His allegiance to our college was exemplary.
On a personal note Dr. Little was my wife’s cousin. He was a blessing as a family member. His humor and desire to be a blessing surrounded every event he was at.
A memorial service will be held in Kentucky. In honor of Dr. Little’s home going, the Davis College flag will be flown at half-mast recognizing a servant of God entering the presence of our Lord. This event is certainly… “Precious in the sight of our Lord.”
