Listening to God

Post details: Jeremiah 5: the fear of the LORD

Jeremiah 5: the fear of the LORD

I, Jeremiah, love G-d

Barna needs data; any right doing?
none? but they swear loyalty

But G-d these are the uneducated--how can you judge ignorance?
to those in the know,
all chose to go another way
I get discouraged, yhwh incredulous
He will spare for less than Sodom or Gomorrah
they arrogantly trust him
their rhetoricians' proofs lie on yesterday's facts

I, Jeremiah, have been charged with words from the inferno
I unleash the horde of Mordor
The Khan's cavalry swarms as Joel's locusts
until only Isaiah's stump remains

I, Jeremiah, fear yhwh
that is why I do what I do
regardless of how painful
as for G-d's people
whose eyes don't see,
whose ears don't hear
do you not tremble in your creator's presence?

his blessings provide
your sins reject

the rich get richer, the poor get poorer
so who steals from whom?
G-d knows, they don't

As bad as that is
religious spokesmen vocalize pseudo-torah
substituting gain for god
the crowd's ears itch
the black gate opens

Jeremiah, how can you plead ignorance of God’s people to God’s very face? How are they ignorant, and is not their own fault? Did He not give them enough? Are they bringing Him into situations ignorantly? Do they really know God is they choose to walk away from Him? I understand your frustration, Jeremiah, for I too marvel at rebellion and disobedience. Do you ever look at yourself and wonder the same thing, why am I not in perfect obedience after all He has done for me? What am I thinking in the times I have walked away? Jeremiah, I too have seen God, yet I have not always been faithful. What does this say for my faith? For my love, my fear? If they trust arrogantly based on what was yesterday for obedience, maybe they like we need to realize that promises are timeless only as long as obedience continues.

So Frodo meets Dante? :D If God has you speak from the pit of hell to them, what words would He have for us, and who shall speak them? Since you who know what God thinks of those who disobey, how can you demonstrate the same to the deaf and blind? Has He made you a teacher over impossible pupils? What of those who see a little, fear much, and find their poor eyesight still results in disobedience? I feel like one who fears much because of what I have seen, yet feel an inadequate understanding to obey. Such is the mind of one who seeks to excuse sin.

So they’re inviting these black gates and the spewing of hell by following their false teachers and taking gain over God? Whatever is in their ears, they certainly have selective hearing. And yet they claim to be the people of Yahweh… don’t His people hear His voice? Did He give them the divorce they wanted by stopping up their ears? I should guard my ways so He isn’t tempted to send me to the third circle of hell where Nazgul bite “ring bearers.” Maybe these people have been seduced into being wraiths… and devour their own out of lust for more… yet are still accountable for their actions.

Just a thought.

Way to be universally culturally relevant, Rabbi, with Lord of the Rings and Dante.

Substituting gain for god. We could print those words on the Statue of Liberty. god bless America (and what often passes for the church here)!
