Elementary Education -- Four Plus One:
Earn your BRE in the
concentration of your choice at
Davis College in New York State, and your Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in one
additional year at
Columbia International University
This arrangement allows
students to earn the BRE degree here at Davis in four years
and, in one additional year and a half, the MAT degree in Elementary
Education (grades K-3 or 2-6) from Columbia
International University. The MAT program at CIU leads to
initial state certification in South Carolina, which is reciprocal
in 36 other states, including New York and Pennsylvania, and
Association of Christian Schools International Certification.

 "The
4+1 program had a major influence on my decision to
attend Davis College. It allowed me to study any
concentration I wanted at Davis, while preparing me
with specific courses that I needed to complete in
order to enter into the Master’s program at Columbia
International University. My advisor here at Davis
was extremely helpful in keeping me accountable with
signing up for the correct courses that I needed to
take as prerequisites of the Master’s program at CIU.
It was also very beneficial to me that a
representative from CIU came to Davis to explain
everything about the program that I was going to
enter and the course of action that I needed to take
in order to begin my schooling at CIU. I highly
recommend this program to anyone wishing to further
his or her education because the program allows
students to finish all of their schooling, including
their Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees, in
approximately 5 ½ years, depending on their areas of
study. This concentrated amount of study will allow
students to finish their schooling with a Master’s
Degree in a relatively short amount of time so that
they can begin their ministries or careers as soon
as possible." |
