Meet the Creative Arts Faculty

Dr. Brent Young: Music

Dr. Young teaches applied piano and courses in music and worship. He holds a Ph.D. in Music Education from Penn State University and a Master's of Music in Piano Performance from Binghamton University.

Tim Thurber: Drama 

Tim Thurber teaches all of the drama courses at Davis College. He holds a B.A. in communication from Houghton College and a Th.M. with an emphasis in Media Arts in Ministry from Dallas Theological Seminary. He currently pastors a church in Oneonta and also teaches at the Davis College extension site in Albany, New York. 

Bob Greaves: Computer Applications in Music 

Bob Greaves teaches digital recording at Davis College as a component of the course Computers in Music and Worship. He has been the music director at First Christian Church of Binghamton since 1996. He also works as an audio engineer, producer and session musician in his "project" recording studio located in Endwell, New York.

Steve Shellhammer: Applied Guitar

Steve Shellhammer teaches guitar at Davis College. He graduated from Baptist Bible College in 1986 with a B.S. degree in Church Music.  He obtained a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1993. He is currently employed as a software engineer at Lockheed Martin Systems Integration, in Owego, New York. He is married to Dianne and they have two children, Alexandru and Victoria. 

Tamara Cole: Applied Voice

Tamara Cole teaches voice at Davis College. She holds a B.A. in Music with a concentration in voice from Syracuse University. She is a talented and versatile performer who is comfortable singing both classical and contemporary Christian music. In addition to teaching at the College, she works for Mary Kay cosmetics and counsels "at risk" children.  

Peter Boris: Applied Drum Set 

Peter Boris is native of Endicott, New York. Peter has played drums for almost forty years. He has played professionally for over thirty-three years, which included four World Wide USO tours, many of the major resorts along the East Coast, Mid-West and Canada, the cruise ship SS Norway for several years, and many other venues. He currently plays on the worship team at his church, provides private drum instruction to approximately 27 students, and is the drummer/leader of the Christian contemporary group, Chron 25
