A Message from Professor Bonnie Novak, Chairperson of the TESL Program at Davis College
Welcome to the exciting world of Teaching English as a Second Language. There are so many possibilities to explore in this realm. Do you have a heart for missions but don’t know where to start? TESL will get you there. Doors are open all over world for ESL (English as a Second Language) teachers; even countries that are closed otherwise to the gospel welcome ESL teachers with open arms.
Opportunities to meet needs and reach out with the good news of Jesus Christ abound in this field. From New York City to LA, from the Middle East to the Pacific Rim, whether you choose to minister in the United States or in the far corners of the earth, TESL can take you there. Come and see what a bachelor’s degree in TESL can do for you.
I have been asked the question “What can I do with a degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL)?” Actually, the real question should be “What can I NOT do with a degree in TESL?” The list of job opportunities for teaching English to speakers of other languages is endless. Almost every week, I get an email from an organization that I have never heard of asking me if I have any graduates who will be ready to come work for them as soon as possible. Organizations with opportunities in Korea, Japan, Taiwan, China, and Honduras have pleaded with me to send my graduates to them for these well-paid positions!
Learn more about what you can do with a TESL concentration degree from Davis College by emailing me at the link below. I look forward to hearing from you!
