A Letter from a Board 49 Official Commending the Lady Falcons

February 2012

The following letter was received by Athletic Director Tom O'Connor after a women's game:

"WOW -- was that fun or what? I've been officiating basketball for 25 years and college for 15, and every once in a while you see a team that makes you feel good. That team for me is your women's team.

Yes, #22 is so amazing! So determined on both ends of the floor. She is inspiring to watch, but it is not only her; #33 with a big smile at the captain's meeting along with the fun she seems to be having. It's #10, who when a foul was called on her, she turned around to let the official see her number. Upon informing her that she also has a number on the front of her jersey -- she looks down at it and breaks into laughter. It's #35, banging on the boards for rebounds only to be knocked to the floor time and time again. It's #12 with a minute left stepping back and hitting a three to seal the win. I don't mean to leave anybody out, it's just those highlights in my mind define your team.

Coach Ellis should be commended for the way the team competes no matter what happens. The sportsmanship exhibited is the best I've ever seen. We officials are fans of the game and there have been a few times I wanted to put down my whistle and cheer your team."
